• Association of Zoo Techs

    line
The Association of Zoo Veterinary Technicians (AZVT) was formed when a group of 13 zoo veterinary technicians and medical technologists met to discuss the need for a forum of continuing education in their highly specialized field. AZVT began with 29 members in 1981 and has grown to almost 400 members from around the world. AZVT is a professional organization available to veterinary technicians and anyone interested in the veterinary medical field. Our organization is dedicated to all aspects of quality veterinary technical care in the field of zoo animal medicine. We believe this is accomplished through the sharing of ideas, improving techniques and contributing to conservation. Our conferences are a great place for networking and learning where technicians can share experiences and support one another in the field of zoo medicine. Our conference topics range from infant rearing to laboratory techniques and involve both individual and institutional research. The Association of Zoo Veterinary Technicians is having their 37th AZVT Annual Conference at Edmonton Valley Zoo, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada September 4-8, 2017. The mission of the Idaho Society of Veterinary Technicians and Assistants (ISVTA) is to provide a forum for the support and interaction between Idaho’s veterinary technicians and assistants. In addition, we will encourage and promote professionalism, continuing education, and membership development. We will work to raise public awareness of veterinary health care issues and veterinary support staff duties and help foster good community/veterinary relations. We will act as the voice of the veterinary technicians and assistants in Idaho.

NEW CHAPTERS!  In an effort to reach everyone in Idaho who is interested in joining the ISVTA we are trying to set up chapters.  We now have Magic Valley SVTA, Eastern Idaho SVTA, and Southwest  Idaho SVTA.  We are looking for help in Northern Idaho!  If you are interested in the ISVTA contact us.

The ISVTA has 28 members as of January 21, 2016.
